Roman Casillas is a self-taught artist and professional tattoo artist born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. His passion for the arts began in his early youth and led to him being granted scholarships for the Tucson Museum of Art Summer Youth Program three years in a row. These opportunities surely gave him more education than that given in a public school setting but his talent and concentration were also honed, leading him to become the artist he is today.

Roman never stopped exploring and learning all he could about art, music, and culture. This love took him all over the world, traveling to indulge in diverse communities and inspiring him in limitless ways. His primary influences and other interests can be easily identified in all of his work.
His precise lines and well-defined portraits demonstrate the attention to detail found in both architecture and photography. With the use of strong body language and powerful facial expressions, it is clear that Casillas has a deep understanding of human thought and behavior which is evident in his extensive experience in behavioral health, spanning well over a decade. Applying bold colors into loose backgrounds with heavy texture and complimentary highlighting of the main focal point give his art the type of hyper surrealism found in the works of classic artists such as Salvador Dali and Francis Bacon. With his own twist, Roman also draws inspiration from the more modern work of James Jean and Michael Hussar.
Keeping a timeless aspect to his work as well as keeping up with the times, Roman Casillas puts more than just a personal touch into everything he creates, leaving us with art so visually and emotionally striking that many are left with their heads cocked sideways in wonder with a firm first over their hearts.
