Although your artist may have slightly different aftercare instructions, basic tattoo aftercare is as follows:
1. Always keep your tattoo clean. Wash your tattoo at least 2 times (preferably 3) every day until it is squeaky clean. Try to minimize contact with dirt/dust/debris during the first couple weeks following your appointment. Treat your new tattoo like you would a fresh wound, because that's what it is.
2. Wash your hands before you apply ointment or lotion.
3. We suggest you use a pea-size amount of aftercare ointment of your artist's recommendation, rubbed into the skin (until you can no longer see a "sheen") for the first 3 days after the tattoo.
4. Switch to a white unscented lotion around 3 days after, when your skin begins to exfoliate (flake).
5. Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight and don't submerge your new tattoo in a sitting body of water until healing is complete.
